This technique is uniquely developed for beginners through all levels of experience. No prior experience in gymnastics, dance, Yoga or Pilates is required. AntiGravity® Aerial Yoga
Explore the evolution of Yoga into 3 dimensional space. This mind/body/spirit class provides a challenging Aerial Yoga technique using the Christopher Harrison Hammocks. This class is for all student levels provided they have attended at least 3-4 Fundamentals 1 & 2 classes prior.
Using the hammocks you are suspended in the air while blending yoga practices with the athletic principles of Aerial Yoga. Suspension from the hammock is therapeutic, relieves compression and elongates the spine and is fun. Lifting ones own body weight strengthens and develops integrated muscle coordination.
In Order to Fly you must first be willing to Let Go.
Barre Tone is a low impact Cardio/Toning technique that is designed to build beautiful, long lean muscles without building bulk. The class combines elements of Yoga, Pilates and Ballet into high energy, low-impact, full body work outs. Barre Tone is a very effective way of utilizing the Ballet Barre to perform small isometric movements that burns calories while toning, lengthening and strengthening the entire body. You will see results in just a couple of visits. No Ballet or dance experience of any kind is required.

The Volée Method™
Fighting Gravity Fitness is the first studio in Virginia to offer this new all over body work out technique called “The Volée Method™”. Its an exciting, new exercise modality that fuses suspension fitness, Pilates, Yoga and Barre movement together. It’s a challenging blend of isometric exercises and flexibility challenges with the added dimension of bracing your body weight with the aid of straps.
This workout encompasses:
Resistance that comes from the suspension of your own body weight, Complete with core-bracing squats, leg lifts, plank variations, Pliés and Développiés as you stabilize the body.
Isometric contractions and elongating stretches create a full-body work out.

Aerial Hoop (also known as Lyra) is a circular steel apparatus rigged from the ceiling, giving you the opportunity to execute dynamic tricks, spins and swings!
The hoop provides the perfect frame for an endless variety of balances, transitions and routines. Aerial Hoop classes are great for building strength, stamina and increased flexibility as well as confidence.
Advanced classes are designed as a 6 week session allowing you to learn the basic various techniques to enter and exit from the hoop building beautifully toned arms, abs and back definition while focusing on advanced poses and conditioning, and drilling repetitions.
After grasping these fundamentals, the instructor will guide you through a full choreographed performance routine. Before you know it, you will be moving in and out of the hoop with beauty and grace!
Taking Beginner Lyra Conditioning is necessary.
A full class will give your whole body a good workout but when it comes to your core muscles and your upper body strength, nothing even comes close.
Lyra (Beginner Level)
This class is for the New student or for the experienced student wanting a conditioning challenge. it’s an hour long class session focusing on building the strength, stamina, and technique required for performing in the Lyra rather than posing in the hoop. This class utilizes body-weight floor drills in addition to conditioning exercises on the hoop are used to improve overall muscular strength and endurance.
It is recommended you take at least 3 beginner Lyra classes or be approved by instructor before taking an intermediate/advanced Lyra class.
