Discover the power, excitement and pure joy of moving freely in all directions of open space with a proven step-by-step technique in one of our aerial fitness classes. Aerial Yoga is a “Suspension Fitness” technique designed to increase one’s overall health and physical agility while having fun and creating beauty. Fundamentals is the “Decompression Phase” that includes zero-compression inversions, to align the body from head to toe while gently stretching and strengthening one’s muscles. With the use of the fabric hammock it acts like a soft trapeze, supporting you as you master simple suspension techniques leading to more advanced poses in Aerial Yoga. This technique is uniquely developed for beginners through all levels of experience. No prior experience in gymnastics, dance, Yoga or Pilates is required. It is strongly recommended to take at least 3-4 sessions in Aerial Beginner before advancing to Aerial Yoga. Get ready to fly, have fun and just feel free!
Aerial Beginner includes movement sequences allowing you to feel the improvement in your flexibility, strength, and alignment. In Beginner Aerial you achieve more than a simple stretch. You will progress to more advanced poses while increasing your overall health and physical agility.
Aerial Yoga Fitness offers a complete workout that is certain to get you in shape while realigning you from head to toe. While using techniques from gymnastics, aerial acrobatics, dance, Pilates, calisthenics, and Yoga it offers a low impact cardiovascular workout that simultaneously decompresses and strengthens the muscular-skeletal system. No Previous aerial, acrobatics, Yoga, or Dance experience is needed.
Explore the evolution of Yoga into 3 dimensional space. This mind/body/spirit class provides a challenging Aerial Yoga technique using the Christopher Harrison Hammocks. This class is for all student levels provided they have attended at least 3-4 Fundamentals 1 & 2 classes prior.
Using the hammocks you are suspended in the air while blending yoga practices with the athletic principles of Aerial Yoga. Suspension from the hammock is therapeutic, relieves compression and elongates the spine and is fun. Lifting ones own body weight strengthens and develops integrated muscle coordination.
In Order to Fly you must first be willing to Let Go.
Gentle Stretch Aerial Yoga
This Gentle Stretch Arial Yoga is designed to allow you to stretch the spine, the knees, pelvis, sacrum, shoulders and hips a little bit more than regular Yoga, yet you are in total control of how far you want to go since the Harrison Hammock is there to support you. As we age or incur injuries, our connective tissue begins to tighten and creates stiff joints. By using the Harrison hammock, we can go deeper into a stretch while holding on and apply gentle pressure to the joints through various postures that target this deep connective tissue, which includes the tendons, ligaments, and cartilage. Breath work is emphasized to encourage concentration and ease stress. This is a relaxing class, yet has some good intense stretches too. A MUST for EVERYONE!
Aerial Suspension Fitness
Suspension fitness is a dynamic all over body conditioning class. Expect decompression and traction of the spine with a focus on developing core strength. We’ll do flips and tricks, as well as static and dynamic strength moves. There will be inversions and also work on flexibility as you steadily and progressively develop in your practice. While some core strength is recommended this course is suitable for beginners and experienced alike. The harder you work, the more calories you’ll burn.
Explore new territory with your Pilates workout! Transferring the Pilates movement vocabulary to the hammock is a natural evolution that Joseph Pilates would most certainly have approved of. Aerial Pilates is a suspension training technique allows students to perform Classical and Contemporary Pilates exercises from the Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, and Ladder Barrel – all in the hammock! These classes take core-strengthening and targeted muscle conditioning to new heights. Explore the amazing benefits that can be derived by the Pilates Method in the hammock in combination with no-Compression Inversions. No prior Pilates experience is necessary. We will incorporate the foundation and the principles of Pilates in the Aerial Pilates class.
Aerial Restorative Yoga & Meditation
Restorative Aerial Yoga is the gentle, healing side of Aerial Yoga. This powerful method focuses the mind through powerful visualizations as it floats the body through a series of gentle gyro-kinetic motions, deeply opening the entire spine, hips, and connective tissues of the body. This technique features full body inversions, alongside various forms of flowing spinal traction. It offers accessibility to students with physical limitations, but is loved by all as a portal into deeper spinal flexibility, and mind/body connection. Taught in a sequential flow to music, the class incorporates levitating meditations, zero-compression inversions, supported sun salutations, joint opening poses, and a floating Savasana. Working from different hammock heights allows for the gentle opening of hips and spine.
Aerial Hoop (also known as Lyra) is a circular steel apparatus rigged from the ceiling, giving you the opportunity to execute dynamic tricks, spins and swings!
The hoop provides the perfect frame for an endless variety of balances, transitions and routines. Aerial Hoop classes are great for building strength, stamina and increased flexibility.
Classes are designed as a 5 week session allowing you to learn the basic various techniques to enter and exit from the hoop while building beautifully toned arms, abs and back definition. After grasping these fundamentals, the instructor will guide you through a full choreographed performance routine. Before you know it, you will be moving in and out the hoop with beauty and grace!
No previous experience is necessary.
A full class will give your whole body a good workout but when it comes to your core muscles and your upper body strength, nothing even comes close.
Whether you are a fitness enthusiast eager to try new forms, a dancer who wants to explore the air or an aerialist who wants to work on lovely lines, AIRealBarre will get you up and flying!
Like dance, Aireal Barre develops ideal body lines through the toning and lengthening of muscles, while also developing balance and agility. Recently, new methods of ballet barre training have found their way into fitness studios as participants notice the many benefits of training physical grace. Fighting Gravity’s version, AIRealBarre, challenges the body and mind beyond the vertical plane and up into the air!
Transferring much of the movements to a silk hammock that allows for 3D movement on multiple planes.
This playful class design inspires movement. It is accessible to non-dancers, with the hammock helping you find alignment, and also challenges accomplished dancers, giving them more airtime in jumps!
Aerial Parent & Me KIDS Sessions
Children will discover how much fun exercise can be while conquering fears and building self-confidence. You will notice improvement in your child’s focus, flexibility, and strength. Each class builds on the previous class instruction to promote gentle stretching while introducing an element of lightness and play. Certified instructors guide your child to maintain levity in mind, body, and heart.
